Big Piston – November 2002
April 30th, 2008Big Piston – JBS Racing first put a Husaberg engine in a Motocross Sidecar in 2002. The engine was a 2003 model 650 (644cc) bought from Dave Clarke Racing (who was then the UK importer) in September 2002.
Initially the engine performed OK but seemed to lack the kind of power needed to compete with 700cc Zabel 2-Strokes that we had worked with before.
Due to previous extensive work designing and producing prototype engines JBS Racing has working relationships with many motor-sport manufacturers. In late 2002 we used these to source a big piston –
In the winter of 2002 we started to think about how we could put this off the shelf 105mm piston in our Husaberg and what engine capacity was achievable.
